Abstract
Indonesia is in the 2nd position in the world with the most tuberculosis cases. One of
the nursing problems that occur in tuberculosis patients is that airway clearance is not
effective. This nursing problem can be solved through the application of chest
physiotherapy. The purpose of this paper is to identify the effect of chest physiotherapy
methods in overcoming nursing problems of ineffective airway clearance Chest
physiotherapy is performed using three techniques, namely postural drainage,
percussion, and vibration for 4 days with 2 sessions per day. This implementation is
given to one managed client with a male gender. The success of this nursing
intervention is seen from the frequency of the patient's breathing, breathing rhythm,
the absence of additional breathing sounds, and the sputum that the patient can expel.
Before the implementation was given , the client's breathing frequency of 33 times per
minute, the rhythm of breathing was irregular, additional breathing was heard, and
the patient could not pass sputum. After the implementation of normal breathing
frequency 19 times per minute, the rhythm of breathing is regular, no additional
breathing sounds are heard, and the client is able to expel sputum.
