Tuberculosis is a contagious infectious disease caused by the bacterial infection agent Mycobacterium tuberculosis which generally attacks the lungs in humans. This disease is transmitted by positive BTA sufferers which spread through droplet nuclei that come out when the sufferer coughs or sneezes. Bacteria that spread in the air can be inhaled by healthy people and can cause infection. The aim of this senior Pratika is to provide nursing care using the intervention of providing mint leaf aroma therapy to reduce shortness of breath felt by tuberculosis patients. The menthol aroma contained in mint leaves has anti-inflammatory properties, so it will open the respiratory tract. The administration of mint leaf aroma therapy was carried out on two managed patients with nursing diagnoses of ineffective airway clearance related to excessive secretions characterized by shortness of breath, as well as coughing up phlegm and difficulty expelling sputum in patients at the Medan Haji General Hospital. The results after the intervention of administering mint leaf aroma therapy carried out four times over four days to the patient were that vital signs were within normal limits, the cough with phlegm was reduced, and shortness of breath was reduced. The conclusion obtained is that giving aromatherapy mint leaves to tuberculosis patients who experience shortness of breath is quite effective in reducing the shortness felt in tuberculosis patients. Suggestions for continuing to provide nursing care with different therapeutic innovations to tuberculosis patients.
