Abstract
Hypertension is high blood pressure above normal values, namely systolic pressure of around 120 mmHg and diastolic pressure of 80 mmHg which occurs without any complaints, so that the sufferer does not know that he has hypertension. Hypertension is a disease that is often found in society. In general, hypertension treatment is divided into two, namely pharmacological therapy (drug therapy) and non-pharmacological therapy. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be carried out on patients with hypertension is progressive muscle relaxation therapy, which is a method of relaxation that combines deep breathing exercises and a series of movements with a series of contractions and relaxation of certain muscles. The aim of this senior pratika is to apply the theory and concept of nursing care to hypertensive patients with progressive muscle relaxation therapy in the mahogany-meranti room at the Prof. Teaching Hospital. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis, University of North Sumatra. Nursing care management is carried out in patients with hypertension. The results of the study showed that the patient's main complaint was pain in the head that radiated to the nape area. The nursing diagnosis taken was acute pain related to a physiological injury agent. Nursing actions are carried out 3x24 hours with results and objectives in accordance with nursing planning. Progressive muscle relaxation therapy is given as a nursing action given to patients. The evaluation obtained is that the patient can carry out progressive muscle relaxation measures independently.
