Abstract

Background: The management of active dynamic archives within Pematangsiantar City Department of Archives and Libraries. Objective: To explore how active dynamic archive management is implemented at Pematangsiantar City Department of Archives and Libraries. Method: The research methodology applied in this thesis is descriptive research utilizing literature reviews, observations, interviews, and documentation for data collection. Results: The findings indicate that the activities involved in the management of active dynamic archives at Pematangsiantar City Department of Archives and Libraries include: 1) Archive creation, which is the process of forming an archive file based on events, activities, and information usage. 2) Archive acquisition, which involves the collection, organization, and storage of important documents produced by an organization or individual. 3) Use and maintenance of archives, which are processes undertaken to ensure archives remain safe and free from damage. 4) Archive depreciation, a process for sorting archives to distinguish between those that are still usable and those that are no longer viable based on the level of information need within them. Conclusion: Overall, the management activities related to active dynamic archives at the Pematangsiantar City Department of Archives and Libraries are being executed efficiently and effectively while being fully compliant with the Archival Law Number 43 of 2009.
