dc.description.abstractThis research aims to explain the process of forming social capital and how social capital supports business in the Bengkel Market trader community in Bengkel Village, Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. This research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The theory used in this research is social capital theory which consists of trust, social networks, and values-norms. Meanwhile, data collection techniques are through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation in the form of previous research, and also literature study. The data analysis technique is through the stages of data collection, data presentation and drawing conclusions using the narrative method. From the research results, it can be concluded that the social capital possessed by Bengkel Market traders is in the form of trust, social networks and norms. The social capital formed at the Bengkel Market already exists and is a driving force for the market itself to survive, this is reflected in the relationships between traders that already exist and are well maintained as well as the relationship between traders and customers or buyers which is also a form of social capital, relationships This concerns trust, networks as well as values and norms. And the role of social capital in supporting the businesses of the trading community is very important. The implication of the research results is that trust can strengthen relationships and align the mutual goals of traders. Strong and mutually influential social networks in maintaining the existence of traditional markets. The values that are successfully implemented in the market sphere ultimately also have a positive impact on the surrounding environment. The results of this research will create problems or emerge new issues such as the comparison of social capital between the community of traders in traditional markets and dodol traders (UMKM). Where dodol traders experienced a decline in income which made some of them choose to stop production due to the existence of the Medan-Tebing Tinggi toll road as an alternative route. The implications of this research will create new research regarding traders at the Pasar Bengkel.en_US
