The Role of TikTok as Fashion Inspiration for The University of North Sumatra Female Students
Abstract
This writing explores the impact of TikTok on the female students’ fashion choices. TikTok has become a media tools that can be easily provides all the knowledge and be able to help its users to get informations they needed. TikTok can also entertain and inspire its users so they’re not just enjoy the videos but it provides a lot of inspiring things. Beside that, TikTok is a good platform to market products and services by showcasing ads or hiring the influencers to collaborate with so the product and services is well known by the people. There are variety types of content on TikTok, this is one of the reasons why students use TikTok. By the wide range of content available on TikTok, many students find it an appealing source for fashion inspiration. The purpose of this study is to explore the interest, utilize and incorporate fashion into their lives through TikTok. By using a qualitative research approach, the study gathers data through observasion, interviews, focus group discussions (FGD), documentation and literature review, informants of FISIP, FEB, FIB & FKG. The results of this study shows that students enjoy using TikTok because it contains various content that can inspire and help them find what they actually need. The discussion in this study found that students use TikTok because it contains various interesting content that can provide knowledge to its users especially about fashion. Students are inspired by TikTok for fashion and it helps them make their appearance looks even better, particularly when they go to campus. They believe that fashion is very important, therefore they pay great attention to their appearance. Paying attention to their appearance by wearing fashion that suits themselves makes students feel confident.
