Fenomena Softmasculinity dalam Pandangan Penggemar K-Pop (Studi Deskriptif pada Penggemar K-Pop Kota Medan)
Softmasculinity Phenomenon in the View of K-Pop Fans (Descriptive Study on K-Pop Fans in Medan City)
Abstract
This research is motivated by the fact that Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest K-pop influence in the world. The existence of K-Pop has clearly influenced society globally, one of which is the existence of a new concept of masculinity called soft masculinity. The city of Medan, which is a city with a large K-pop community, is also not immune from this influence. This research aims to determine K-Pop fans' acceptance of K-Pop idol soft masculinity in the city of Medan as well as a phenomenological perspective in assessing this social reality. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews and documentation of informants selected using purposive sampling techniques. The research results show that the new concept of soft masculinity exists as a forum for men to express themselves, even though it is very different from the traditional concept of masculinity. Additionally, the associated acceptance of softmasculinity began with adoption and imitation by fans and slowly became a commonplace phenomenon. Thus, phenomenology views the problem of soft masculinity as a new paradigm in society that cannot be avoided.
