Abstract

Background: Job training is an activity to train or improve the competence of the workforce both in terms of knowledge, skills and expertise for job seekers. Purpose: This study aims to find out what is the role of job training in improving the competence of the workforce, to find out what are the obstacles to the implementation of job training in improving the competence of the workforce and to find out what efforts are made to overcome obstacles to the implementation of job training in improving the competence of the workforce at the Medan Vocational Training and Productivity Center. Method: Sample was taken from the Medan Vocational Training and Productivity Center. The data sources used in this study are using primary and secondary data sources. The data collection technique was carried out by observation and questionnaire. Results: The results of the study show that job training plays an important role in improving the competence of the workforce. Conclusion: Job training at the Medan Vocational Training and Productivity Center plays an important role in improving the competence of the workforce, especially for those who do not have adequate skills or experience.
