Digitalisasi sebagai Upaya Preservasi Bahan Pustaka di Perpustakaan Universitas Sumatera Utara

Abstract

This final project is entitled "Digitalization as an Effort to Preserve Library Materials at the University of North Sumatra". The purpose of writing this final project is to explain how the digitization process is carried out at the University of North Sumatra Library, explain what types of library materials are digitized, explain how the library ensures the quality of digitization results such as image resolution, text clarity, and completeness of metadata information, explain how the library ensures the security and availability of access to digital collections for users. Digitalization as an effort to preserve library materials has become an urgent need in facing the challenges of information preservation in the modern era. This process involves converting physical library materials, such as books, manuscripts and archives, into digital formats to ensure continued access and protection against physical damage. This paper aims to analyze the benefits and challenges faced in the digitization process, as well as its impact on information accessibility and distribution. The writing methods used in writing this final project are observation, interview method, literature study, and documentation.
