Biologi Reproduksi Ikan Red Devil (A. labiatus) di Perairan Danau Toba Kecamatan Haranggaol Kabupaten Simalungun

Abstract

The Red devil fish (A. labiatus), as predator and highly voracious species, disrupts the existence of other economically valuable fish in the Lake Toba, Haranggaol District, Simalungun Regency. This research was conducted from February to April 2024. Total of 308 Red devil fish samples were collected, with a total length ranging from 110 to 270 mm and a total weight between 22 to 426 grams. The growth pattern of the Red devil fish are positively allometric, with the condition factor indicating that the fish are less streamlined. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters show the growth coefficient (K) for male Red Devil fish of 214 mm and for females of 303 mm. The reproductive results revealed an unbalanced sex ratio of 2.08:1. The gonad maturity level (GML) of the Red devil fish ranged from stage I to stage IV, with stage I being the most frequently observed, the GSI value of female fish are higher than that of male fish, and the GSI value increases along with the gonadal maturity stage, the fecundity of the eggs ranged from 364 to 3,893 eggs, and based on egg diameter, Red Devil fish are classified as partial spawners.
