Evaluation Study of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program Performance in Enhancing The Empowerment of Women Clam Peelers in Kuala Indah Village
Abstract
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the social responsibility of corporations towards the surrounding community, which includes improving economic, social, and environmental well-being. PT. INALUM is one of the companies responsible for implementing CSR for the communities around the company's plant area, particularly in Desa Kuala Indah. However, the CSR programs implemented face various challenges that affect the success of these programs. This research aims to evaluate the performance of PT. Inalum's CSR program in enhancing the empowerment of female cockle peelers in Desa Kuala Indah.
The research method used in this study is qualitative research. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using three indicators of success: program participation level, community self-reliance, and program sustainability.
Research findings indicate that although PT. Inalum has implemented various community empowerment programs, the participation of women who peel clams in these programs remains minimal. This is due to a lack of comprehensive socialization and information about the available programs. Moreover, many of the empowerment programs do not fully address the specific needs of women clam peelers, such as skills training that could help increase their independent income. The community's independence in economic, ecological, and social aspects has not been optimally achieved. In terms of sustainability, some of the programs that have been implemented have not yet shown significant long-term impact. Therefore, further efforts are needed to increase participation, align the programs with the specific needs of the community, and ensure the sustainability of the CSR programs being carried out. This study suggests that PT. Inalum implement more inclusive and sustainable empowerment programs and conduct regular evaluations to adjust to the evolving needs of the community.
