Performance Test of Household Scale Rice Grinder with Variation of Clearence Roll Breaker and Engine Speed
Abstract
Indonesia is an agricultural country with a major focus on rice production.
The quality of rice is greatly influenced by the rice milling process. The Research
was conducted to test the performance of a household-scale rice mill with
variations in engine speed and roll clearance by using a Randomized Complete
Factorial Design (RALF).
The results showed that the highest effective capacity of the tool occurred in
the C2R3 treatment (1300 rpm, 0.6 mm), with 487.14 g/minute. The best milled
rice occurred in C3R3 (1300 rpm, 0.7 mm) with 73.24%, while the smallest
unmilled rice in C2R3 (1300 rpm, 0.6 mm) with 4.03%. Whole rice was best in
C3R1 (1100 rpm, 0.7 mm) with 56.03%, and head rice was best in C3R3 (1300
rpm, 0.7 mm) with 8.37%. Broken rice was lowest in C1R1 (1300 rpm, 0.6 mm)
with 7.26%.
