One of the steps in coffee production is roasting, during which raw coffee beans are transformed into roasted beans by applying heat at a certain temperature and time. Roasting machines with capacities and prices that suit the needs of MSMEs are difficult to find. In this study, a closed rotary type coffee roasting machine was designed with a direct heating system using a burner furnace, where the roasting chamber rotates mechanically. The capacity of this machine is 4 kg. This study includes the design, fabrication, and testing of tools for medium roasting levels, as well as economic analysis. The results showed that the roasting time for 4 kg of coffee was 45 minutes with a yield of 67%. Economic analysis showed that this roasting tool was feasible to use with a HPP of IDR 72,552 / kg, a production selling price of IDR 85,611 / kg, a BEP of 30.22 kg / year, an R / C ratio of 1,180, and an NPV of 6% of IDR. 3,803,701,597/year, NPV at 8% is Rp. 3,604,799,085/year, and the IRR is 46.24%.en_US
