Design and Construction of a Corn (Zea mays L) Grinding Tool, Disk Mill Type
Abstract
Most of Indonesia's population is farmers, making this country an
agricultural country. In developing this sector, sufficient tools and machines are
needed, which can help in cultivating land and processing agricultural products.
The aim of this research is to design, manufacture and test a disk mill type corn
grinder, which is one of the tools that is often designed. This research began by
reading literature about disk mill type corn grinding tools, creating a tool design
using solidwork, and then conducting parameter observation tests. This tool has
dimensions of a total height of 105 cm, length 55 cm and width 40 cm. The highest
effective capacity of the tool is 18.1686 kg/hour, the highest yield is 97.9%, the
highest electrical power consumption is 1024.54 watts, the highest percentage of
lost material is 2.1%, and the Break Even Point (BEP) value of the tool amounting
to 521.55 kg/year. The Net Present Value (NPV) of the 5% interest rate tool is IDR
587,463,079,437//year, which means this tool is feasible to run, and the IRR
(Internal Rate of Return) on this tool is 41.5091%
