dc.description.abstractPotato is one of the crops cultivated commercially and in great demand in Indonesia because many potato-base preparations that are popular in Indonesia. One of the areas that grows potatoes and be the largest potato commodity center in North Sumatra is Kabupaten Karo, especially in Desa Merek, Kecamatan Merek, Kabupaten Karo,Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Potato productivity in Desa Merek is high, reaching 70%. On the other hand, there is the problem of differences in farming income because there are differences in social factors that influence differences in the income of farmers who cultivate potatoes. This research aims to analyze how many social factors the farmers have on potato farming income. The analytical method used is Multiple Linear Regression Analysis to see the influence of factors that influence farming income. The data obtained is primary data by conducting interviews by using a questionnaire and secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency. The results of the research show that the influence of social factors, the number of family dependents and the farmer's farming experience, has a significant effect on potato farming income, while the social factors of age, level of education and cosmopolitanism have no significant effect on potato farming income.en_US
