One of the ideal resources for sustainable agricultural development today and in the future is educated human resources. Quality human resources and commitment to developing the agricultural sector are factors in the success of sustainable agriculture. Young farmers are the determinants of the future progress of agriculture. The future of agriculture rests on the shoulders of the younger generation who have innovation and creativity because this is very useful for survival in the agricultural sector. However, currently most of the human resources in the agricultural sector are old, it is recorded that in 2023 the number of old farmers will reach 78.07% while young farmers will only be 21.93% of the total number of farmers in Indonesia. This occurs due to the lack of interest of the younger generation in the agricultural sector and not many young people have entered the agricultural sector to replace the previous workforce group. So this is a problem in the agricultural sector that must be considered. The aim of this research is to: 1) analyze whether the younger generation is interested in continuing the family horticultural farming business; 2) analyze what factors influence the interest of the younger generation to continue the family horticultural farming business. The method used in this research is Binary Logistic Regression analysis. The research results showed that the younger generation was interested in continuing the family horticultural farming business in Jaranguda Village, Merdeka District, Karo Regency; the variables gender, farming experience, motivation have a positive effect, while the variables education and views on agriculture have no effect on the interest of the younger generation to continue the family horticultural farming business in Jaranguda Village, Merdeka District, Karo Regency.en_US
