dc.description.abstractThis study aims to determine the results of the cross between pulut corn (Zea mays L. var. ceratina) and black corn (Zea mays L. var. black aztec). This research was conducted on community land in Pasar 1 Tanjung Sari, Medan Sunggal District, Medan City, North Sumatra Province. This research was conducted in June 2023 until completion. The method of analysis used in the research is the Reciprocal Cross method, which is a method of reciprocal crossing between varieties of female elders of pulut corn and male elders of black corn or vice versa, male elders of pulut corn and female elders of black corn as many as 2 plots where each plot is planted with 18 plants. So that a total of 36 plants, t test was conducted at the 5% level and followed by chi square test for seed shape and color. The results showed that the percentage of success of crossing pulut corn elders and black corn elders was 79%. There is maternal inheritance of seed shape and color characters from reciprocal crosses. Factors affecting crosses were significant differences in the results of crosses on the parameters of cob weight and 100 seed weight. However, there were no significant differences in the parameters of cob length, cob diameter and number of rows/cob.en_US
