The Effect of Polyhalite Fertilizer on the Vegetative Growth of Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) in Saline Soil
Abstract
One of the plantation commodities that have an important role in the Indonesian economy is oil palm. This study aims to determine the effect of polyhalite fertilizer on vegetative growth of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) in saline soil. The research was conducted in Paluh Merbau Village, Percut District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province, 3o43'13.6 “U 98o44'28.5 ”T, starting from March 2023 to November 2023. This study used a non-factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) repeated as many as 3 replicates with 5 treatments, namely: 100% Potassium from KCl, 100% Potassium from Polyhalite Fertilizer, 75% Potassium from KCl + 25% Potassium from Polyhalite Fertilizer, 50% Potassium from KCl + 50% Potassium from Polyhalite Fertilizer, 25% Potassium from KCl + 75% Potassium from Polyhalite Fertilizer which was conducted in March and September. The results showed that giving a combination of 25% Potassium from KCl + 75% Potassium from Polyhalite was able to increase stem diameter in May 2023 and increase midrib thickness in November 2023.
