Coffee is a leading export commodity developed in Indonesia because it has a relatively high economic value in the world market. The use of coffee expert applications can assist farmers in detecting pest attacks based on symptoms of attacks on coffee plants. This study aims to determine how to apply the Coffee Expert to coffee farmers and determine the diversity of insect species on coffee plants in Pematang Sidamanik District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. Insect identification was carried out at the Laboratory of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, from August to October 2023. This study used purposive sampling method using yellow sticky trap and compound attractant trap. The results showed that the insects caught were 5 orders, 16 families, 25 genera, and 3781 individuals. The diversity index of insects in coffee plantation land (Coffea arabica L.) is moderate, namely H'=1,58, high insect species richness index, namely R = 8,23, moderate insect evenness index, namely E'=0,49 and low insect dominance index, namely C =0,3. The indicated functional status on the land includes parasitoids, herbivores, scavengers, predators, and pollinators. The highest importance index in herbivorous insects (pests) is from the Hypothenemus genus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) which is 24,02%.
