dc.description.abstractThis study seeks to evaluate the role of the library in supporting the implementation of the School Literacy Movement program at SMA Dharmawangsa Medan. The research employs a qualitative descriptive methodology. The selection of five informants was conducted using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis process involved three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study reveal that the library plays a significant role in the implementation of the School Literacy Movement program at SMA Dharmawangsa Medan. The school library carries out the program in the following three stages. The habituation stage has successfully been implemented by providing comfortable facilities and infrastructure to support literacy activities. The development stage involves organizing literacy-themed activities. While this stage has been implemented effectively, challenges such as a lack of consistency in conducting literacy activities remain. The learning stage focuses on developing reading strategies. Although this stage has been implemented successfully, it faces obstacles due to a shortage of human resources to support the development of these strategies. The findings of this study conclude that the library at SMA Dharmawangsa Medan conducts literacy activities aligned with the guidelines outlined in the School Literacy Movement (GLS) Handbook for Senior High Schools published by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2016. The library's role encompasses several key aspects, including the provision of book collections, the utilization of designated reading areas, the organization of literacy-themed activities, facilitating library visits, and the implementation of reading award programs.en_US
