The prevalence of periodontal disease in elderly increases along with the increasing elderly population in Indonesia. Saliva has great potential as a biomarker in detecting and monitoring various health conditions, including periodontal disease. This study aims to analyze the correlation between salivary calcium levels and periodontal status in elderly. The study was conducted using analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects consisted of 90 elderly perople living in Unit Pelaksana Teknis Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Binjai. The subjects were examined for periodontal status using parameters such as pocket depth, bleeding on probing (BOP), and clinical attachment loss (CAL), calculus index (CI) examination, and saliva sampling for salivary calcium level analysis. The results showed that the average of salivary calcium level was 28,46±10,02 mg/dL. Statistical analysis using the Spearman test showed a weak negative and insignificant correlation between salivary calcium levels and pocket depth (p=0,231), bleeding on probing (BOP) (p=0,153), and clinical attachment loss (CAL) (p=0,335). However, a significant relationship was found between salivary calcium levels and the calculus index (CI) (p=0,023). The conclusion of this study is that salivary calcium levels have a significant correlation with calculus formation in the elderly, but do not show a significant relationship with pocket depth, bleeding on probing (BOP), dan clinical attachment loss (CAL).en_US
