Background: Official travel in the Medan City DPRD has a very important role
in supporting the effectiveness of the perFormance of council members in
carrying out council duties, such as comparative studies, work meetings, and
consultations with ministries or other government institutions. However, official
travel funded by the state budget requires careful planning and accountable
Management so that the objectives of the trip are achieved effectively and
efficiently.
Objectives: To analyze the mechanism for handling official travel in the Medan
City DPRD. To identify the challenges faced in planning, allocating budget,
implementing, and reporting official travel.
Methods: This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. Data
were collected through interviews with a number of related parties in the Medan
City DPRD, such as council members, secretariat staff, and budget Management
officials.
Results: The results of this study indicate that the handling of official travel in the
Medan City DPRD still faces various significant challenges that can hinder the
effectiveness and efficiency of budget use.
Conclusion: The handling of official travel in the Medan City DPRD still faces
several problems related to budget waste, non-transparency in reporting, and lack
of supervision. Therefore, more structured improvement steps are needed,
including the implementation of a more transparent technology-based
Management system. In Addition, the implementation of stricter audits and
increased internal supervision are very important to ensure that official travel is
carried out in accordance with applicable provisions and that the allocated budget
can be used efficiently and effectively
