dc.description.abstractIsolation of flavonoida compounds contained in red turi fruit (Sesbania grandiflora (L.) Poir) had been carried out by maceration extraction method using methanol solvent. The methanol concentrated extract was then extracted with ethyl acetate solvent until negatively tested with FeCl3(aq)5% and Mg(s)+HCl(aq) 37%. The concentrated ethyl acetate extract dissolved with methanol solvent then extracted by partitioning with n-hexane solvent until the n-hexane layer was clear, resulting in a methanol layer that was evaporated until solid. The methanol solid extract was separated by column chromatography with a stationary phase of silica gel 60 and a mobile phase of n-hexane-ethyl acetate eluent with a ratio of 90:10; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40; 50:50; 40:60; 30:70; 20:80; 10:90( v /v). Purification was carried out on fractions 261-290 by preparative thin layer chromatography using a mobile phase of chloroform - ethyl acetate 30:70( v /v) eluent and resulted in 16.4 mg of isolate in the form of a yellowish white amorphous solid with an Rf value of 0.50. UV-Visible spectrum of the isolate showed a wavelength absorption (λmax) of 312 nm in band I and 253 nm in band II. FT-IR spectrum of the isolate showed the presence of O-H stretching, C-H stretching, C=O ketone stretching, C=C aromatic stretching, C-O-C stretching, C-O stretching. The 1 H-NMR spectrum of the isolate showed the presence of protons H-2; H-2'; H-6'; H-8 and H from OH. From the results of data analysis and interpretation, the isolated compounds obtained are flavonoid compounds of the isoflavone groupen_US
