dc.description.abstract | The many uses of garlic
in terms of cooking, food industry and health make the demand for garlic continue
to increase along with the increasing needs of the community due to population
growth. The quantity of garlic supply is unable to meet the quantity of demand by
consumers because the harvest area is getting narrower and production continues to
decline. Research objectives to analyze what factors influence the demand and
supply of garlic in North Sumatra province simultaneously and partially. This study
uses quantitative data sourced from secondary data (time series) for a period of 21
(2002-2022). Data analysis uses multiple linear regression analysis methods using
the E-Viwes version 12 program. The results of this study show that simultaneously
the price of garlic, the price of shallots, per capita income and population have a
significant effect on the demand for garlic in North Sumatra province. Partially,
garlic price, per capita income, and population have a significant effect on garlic
demand in North Sumatra province. While simultaneously, harvested area, garlic
price, shallot price, and garlic technology have a significant effect on garlic supply
in North Sumatra province. Partially, harvested area, garlic price, and garlic
technology have a significant effect on garlic supply in North Sumatra province.
