The Effect of Demographic Bonus on Economic Growth on The Island of Sumatra (Study on: 6 Provinces)
Abstract
Indonesia is now entering the era of demographic bonus. Demographic bonus is not only an opportunity but also a threat to the economy in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the effect of dependency ratio, HDI and labor force on economic growth in Sumatra Island.
The type of research used is descriptive quantitative. The data used is secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The analytical tool used in this research is panel data regression using the Common Effect Model with the help of the Eviews 12 program. The research sample consists of 6 provinces for 10 years from 2013-2022.
The results of the study using the Common Effect Model estimation show that the dependency ratio, HDI and labor force simultaneously have a significant effect on economic growth in Sumatra Island. Partially, it is known that the dependency ratio variable has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, the HDI variable has a negative and insignificant effect on economic growth and the labor force variable has a negative and insignificant effect on economic growth on the island of Sumatra.
