Exploration and Inventory of Insect Species with Various Traps in Oil Palm Plantations (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) in Tanah Raja Plantation, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra.
Abstract
This study aims to determine the types of insects and their status in the Tanah Raja oil palm plantation. This research was located in palm oil plantation of PTPN III Tanah Raja, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra. This research was from October to December 2023. The method used in the study was the Trapping method with Purposive Sampling technique by placing traps in 4 different directions and 1 in the center of the oil palm plantation area and for sweep net traps used to capture insects flying around the research area. conducted at the Pest Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. There were 2947 individuals from 29 genera, and 7 orders of insects on oil palm plantations (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Tanah Raja Plantation, namely Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera, Orthtoptera, and Blatodea. The diversity index of insects in oil palm plantations (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is high, namely H'=3,20, with a high richness index value also R = 7,99, and a high evenness index E'=0,87. The highest index of importance in Tanah Raja oil palm plantation is found in the insects scavenger type with a value of =16,94
