This research aims to identify the types of conceptual metaphors and describe how conceptual mappings are created based on the conceptual metaphor theory of Lakoff and Johnson. The research method used is qualitative method based on Creswell, with data collected from sentences that contain conceptual metaphorical aspects from The Jakarta Post on March 18, April 14 and May 6 2024. The results of this research show that there are total 25 data which are divided into three types of conceptual metaphors, such as structural metaphor, orientational metaphor, and ontological metaphor. Structural metaphor is the most data found with 12 data, followed by orientational metaphor with 8 data and ontological metaphor with 5 data. Conceptual mapping in a conceptual metaphor is created from two domains, namely the source domain and the target domain which are correlated to straighten abstract concepts into concrete meanings in everyday life. Each type has different mapping, such as structural metaphor is constructed by one concept with another, orientational metaphor which is constructed by correlation of spatial orientation with everyday life, and ontological metaphor is constructed by representation of abstract objects into tangible objects.
