Pemanfaatan Jerami Padi Sebagai Penutup Tanah dan Pemberian Pupuk Npk pada Tanaman Jagung (Zea Mays L.)
Utilization of Rice Straw As A Soil Cover and Applying NPK Fertilizer to Corn Plants (Zea Mays L.)
Abstract
The research was conducted to determine the use of rice straw as a soil cover and providing NPK fertilizer to corn plants (Zea mays L). This research was carried out from December 2023 to March 2024 at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of North Sumatra, Jalan Karya Wisata, Medan Johor District, Gedong Johor Village, Medan City, North Sumatra. at an altitude of 44 meters above sea level. The research used a two-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD). The first factor is rice straw with 3 treatment levels, namely: Without rice straw, 10 tons/ha and 15 tons/ha. The second factor is NPK fertilizer with 4 treatment levels, namely without NPK fertilizer, 150 kg/ha, 300 kg/ha, 450 kg/ha. The results of this study showed that the treatment of giving rice straw had a significant effect on plant height, leaf area, stem diameter, root wet weight, crown wet weight, crown dry weight, root dry weight, ear length, ear diameter. Providing NPK fertilizer has a significant effect on plant height, leaf area, stem diameter, root wet weight, crown wet weight, crown dry weight, root dry weight, ear length. There was no interaction between rice straw treatment and NPK fertilizer on the parameters of plant height, leaf area, stem diameter, crown wet weight, root wet weight, crown dry weight, root dry weight, ear length, ear diameter and 100 seeds.
