Dampak Media Sosial Terhadap Prestasi Belajar Remaja Usia Sekolah (Studi pada Siswa-siswi SMA Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar)

Abstract

Adolescent use the internet not only for communication needs, but also for entertainment, shopping, study and to increase their knowledge via social media and so on. Some examples of social media that can besed for learning are WhatsApp, Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube, and others. This is the process by which a person who is a social actor adapts their behavior and actions to each other through interpretation. This research was conducted to find answers to the relationship between the use of social media and the learning achievement of school-age teenagers, represented by students at SMA Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar. This research uses a quantitative method, a correlational (causal) approach, namely looking at the relationship between variables and the object under study in the form of cause and effect, so that in this research there are independent and dependent variables. The results of this research show that there is an influence of the use of social media on the achievement of SMA Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar students, as evidenced by table 4.8 Spearman Correlation shown in CHAPTER IV Results and Discussion, it can be seen that the correlation between the variables of Total X (Social Media) and Total Y (Learning Achievement) shows a positive correlation figure of +0.447, this means that social media can influence a student's learning achievement, and vice versa.
