dc.description.abstract | Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder in which Indonesia ranks as the country with the seventh highest prevalence worldwide. This condition is characterized by hyperglycemia, which leads to metabolic disturbances and impairs wound healing. One of the common complications in the oral cavity is traumatic ulcers. Fibroblas cells play a crucial role during the proliferation phase by promoting wound healing. The use of natural ingredients has shown promising potential for the treatment of traumatic ulcers, including Chinese petai leaves. The bioactive compounds found in Chinese petai leaves such as flavonoids, saponins, tanins, and alkaloids exhibit wound-healing properties by stimulating fibroblas proliferation. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a 15% Chinese petai leaf extract gel on wound length and fibroblas proliferation during the healing of traumatic ulcers in DM-induced rats. The research methodology involved using tissue samples from the mandibular labial mucosa of rats. Results, analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test, demonstrated a significant reduction in wound length (p < 0.05) between treatment groups on day 7, whereas the differences observed on day 5 were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Similarly, the One-Way ANOVA test indicated a significant increase in the number of fibroblass (p < 0.05) in treatment groups on day 7, but no significant differences were observed on day 5 (p > 0.05). In conclusion, a 15% Chinese petai leaf extract gel significantly accelerates the wound healing process by reducing wound length and promoting fibroblas proliferation. These findings highlight the potential of Chinese petai leaves as a natural therapeutic agent for managing traumatic ulcers in diabetic conditions. | en_US |
