The Effect of Providing Vermicompost Fertilizer on Growth and Production of Two Variates of Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) in Ratoon I
Abstract
This study aims to determine the growth and production of 2 Sorghum
Varieties by giving several doses of vermicompost fertilizer in ratoon 1. This
research was conducted at the Land of the Meteorology, Climatology and
Geophysics Agency Class 1 Climatology Station in Sumatera Utara from
September to December 2023. This study used the method of Separate Plots
Design (RPT) with two treatment factors and three replications. The first factor
was sorghum varieties (Bioguma and Samurai 2) and the second factor was the
dose of vermicompost fertilizer (0, 5, 10, 15 tons/ha). The parameters observed
were plant height, stem diameter, flowering age, seed weight per sample, seed
weight per plot, panicle weight per sample, panicle weight per plot, 1000 seed
weight. The results showed that the treatment of varieties had a significant effect
on plant height (2-9 weeks after planting), flowering age, seed weight per sample,
seed weight per plot, panicle weight per sample, panicle weight per plot, weight of
1000 seeds. The treatment of vermicompost fertilizer had a significant effect on
flowering age, seed weight per sample, seed weight per plot, panicle weight per
sample, panicle weight per plot, 1000 seed weight. The interaction between the
application of vermicompost fertilizer with two sorghum varieties had a
significant effect on the parameters of seed weight per sample, seed weight per
plot, and 1000 seed weight. The best combination is the use of Bioguma varieties
and a fertilizer dose of 10 tons/ha.
