Analisis Fluktuasi Harga dan Elastisitas Transmisi Harga Daging Ayam Broiler di Kota Medan

Abstract

Broiler chicken meat is a staple food in Indonesia, including in Medan City, and its price fluctuates. The fluctuating price of broiler chicken meat is an issue faced by both consumers and farmers as producers. Additionally, the elasticity of price transmission for broiler chicken meat is also an important issue for farmers with weak market power. This study aims to analyze the price fluctuations and price transmission elasticity of broiler chicken meat in Medan City. The method used is the coefficient of variation, complemented by price fluctuation graphs and the calculation of price transmission elasticity from the market trader level to the producer farmer level. The results show that the price fluctuation of broiler chicken meat in Medan City is moderate, with a coefficient of variation (CV) ranging from 5% to 9%. The price transmission elasticity (ET) of broiler chicken meat in Medan City is inelastic, with an ET value of less than 1. An ET value of less than 1 indicates that the broiler chicken meat market in Medan City has an oligopsony structure, meaning that the market price is influenced by retail traders, or in other words, the market power of broiler chicken farmers in Medan City is weak.
