An Overview of Physical Fitness and Cognitive Function in F2 Gym Visitors
Abstract
Cognitive function problems can occur from childhood to adulthood and have the potential to interfere with growth and development, reduce immunity, and complicate the learning process. Physical fitness plays an important role in improving cognitive function through regular physical activity that stimulates blood flow to the brain, thereby improving memory, concentration, and thinking skills. This study aims to determine the relationship and description between physical fitness levels and cognitive function in F2 Gym visitors. This study is a descriptive study. The population of the study was all 153 respondents of F2 Gym visitors. The research sample consisted of 110 respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. The results of the study based on the Chi Square test showed that the majority of F2 Gym visitors had good cardiorespiratory endurance (35.5%), very good flexibility (30.9%), body composition with an underweight category (23.6%), and very good cognitive function (48.2%). Data analysis shows that there is a significant relationship between cardiorespiratory endurance and cognitive function. The majority of respondents who have very good flexibility tend to have very good cognitive function and the majority of respondents with normal body weight tend to have a fairly even distribution.
