dc.description.abstractAlginate impression materials are frequently used in dentistry, usually used to obtain negative reproductions of teeth and oral cavity tissues. A dentist is at risk of contamination with microorganisms such as Candida albicans on the surface of the impression which can cause cross-infection in the oral cavity. Bacterial contamination can be avoided by disinfecting the impression material using a disinfectant solution. The main contents of cinnamon essential oil are coumarin, eugenol and cinnamaldehyde which have antibacterial effects. The aim of this research was to determine the evaluation of adding liquid cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) with concentrations of 2.5%, 5% and 7.5% to distilled water on the setting time of alginate impression materials. This research sample is a mold made from alginate made with a tubular mold measuring 20mm in diameter and 10mm high. The sample size was 6 for each group, namely group I without the addition of liquid cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii), group II with the addition of a liquid concentration of cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) 2.5%, group III with the addition of a liquid concentration of cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) 5%, and group IV with the addition of a liquid concentration of cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) 7.5%. P:W ratio = 10gram powder/22ml liquid. Liquid cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) is an extract made from dried cinnamon which is ground and mashed using a blender, 96% ethanol is added and filtered using cotton and filter paper, the macerate obtained is then steamed using a water bath until obtained thick extract. The setting time of the alginate impression material was calculated using a stopwatch with a self-polymerizing acrylic resin rod tester. Using the Kruskal Wallis test, the results showed that there was a significant difference between all groups with the control p=0.000 (p<0.05), in the Mann-Whitney test there was a significant difference between the treatment and control groups, whereas between treatment groups III and IV this did not occur. significant difference. It can be concluded that the addition of liquid cinnamon extract (Cinnamomum burmannii) with concentrations of 2.5%, 5% and 7.5% to the alginate impression material causes the average setting time of the impression material to be longer compared to without the addition of cinnamon extract.en_US
