Hubungan Tingkat Kebersihan Rongga Mulut Terhadap Kualitas Hidup Pada Lanjut Usia di UPT Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia Binjai (Under Review)

Abstract

Elderly individuals represent a population group vulnerable to health issues, including oral hygiene, which can significantly impact their quality of life. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between oral hygiene levels and quality of life among elderly residents at UPT Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia in Binjai. This research employed an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through clinical examinations of oral hygiene using plaque, calculus, and debris indices, as well as the Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI) questionnaire, which had been culturally adapted into Indonesian. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between variables. The findings revealed a significant relationship between oral hygiene levels and the quality of life among elderly individuals (p=0.047). It can be concluded that elderly individuals with good oral hygiene have a higher quality of life compared to those with poor oral.
